Academics at Sacred Heart
We empower students at Sacred Heart School of Lynn to become critical thinkers. We prepare them to become lifelong learners in an ever-evolving global society. Our curriculum is continuously upgraded, as well as the technology we use to instruct in our classrooms. Professional development is a signfiicant commitment for faculty and staff to ensure our preparedness in readying students with 21st century learning skills.
Our curriculum is based on the Massachusetts Common Core Curriculum Standards and includes:
- Math and Pre-Algebra curriculum based on Massachusetts Frameworks
- Phonics-based Language Arts Program
- Guided Reading Program
- Collins Writing Program
- Interactive Science Program
- Global Social Studies program
- Comprehensive Spanish curriculum
- Expressive Music and Drama program
Sacred Heart School students enjoy a large, open space Library with ample seating for individual, group, and class study. The library has a selection of both fiction and nonfiction titles for students of all ages. Students visit the library on a weekly basis. The time is divided between story time, age-appropriate library skills instruction, book borrowing, and research.
Sacred Heart School students have access to the latest technology to facilitate learning. Our school has over 60 iPads for classroom and library use. In addition, each student in Grades Six through Eight has an iPad for classroom and homework use. Smartboard and wireless internet access is available in the classrooms and library.
