Sacred Heart Daily Updates

Please check back often for the latest updates on how we at Sacred Heart are managing the ongoing changes associated with the Corona virus (COVID-19).

Good Evening Sacred Heart Families!

I hope everyone is doing well.  We are just a few days away from the start of school!  Very Exciting!!!  I am sending you this email with some important information.

We have implemented a Drop Box that will be outside the main front doors if you have paperwork etc.. to drop at school.  We ask that you call the school to let us know that you have placed something in the box.  No parent/guardian/family members will be allowed in the building.  This is for the health and safety of our scholars, staff, and teachers.  We ask that you please make sure that your scholar has everything they need for the day before they enter the school building.

On Tuesday, September 8th we will be having an outdoor drop off your scholars classroom supplies and meet your teacher.  Schedule will be as follows:

2.9    8:00am-9:00am

PK3  8:00am-9:00am

PK3/4   8:00am-9:00am

KO    9:00am-10:00am

K       9:00am-10:00am

2nd   11:00am-12:00pm

3rd    11:00am-12:00pm

4th    11:00am-12:00pm

1st    1:00pm-2:00pm

5th    1:00pm-2:00pm

Our remote learners will be picking up their books/workbooks/instructions etc.. at the same time they drop off their supplies.

For our Remote Learners:

There is a remote learning contract attached to this email.  Please fill out the form, sign it, and bring it back to us on Tuesday, September 8th when you come to pick up your scholar's books etc...

Red Folders:

For our new parents we have what we call the RED FOLDERS!  We use these folders to send notices/homework etc...back and forth from school to home.  If you open up the red folder you will see on one side it says Keep At Home and on the other side

it says Return To School.  This is how our teachers will send papers/notes etc.. back and forth.  Please make sure that the red folder is in their backpack everyday.

 Lunch Program:

Our Lunch Program will look different this year due to Covid-19.  The scholars will be getting a boxed lunch with all food/drink inside the box.  A lunch menu will be sent home the first day of school in the scholars red folder.  We will be sending home in the red folder the first day what we call the Sacred Heart Lunch Form.  This form will go home at the beginning of every month.  Lunch will be prepaid for the month.  You will send in this form and a check/money order for the days you want your scholar to receive lunch.  We will not accept any cash so please do not send it in.  You will also check the days on the Lunch Form.  Lunch will be $3.00 per day.  Also, there was talk of possibly having a Breakfast Program, but for the beginning of school we are going to just have the lunch program.  We will re-evaluate both programs at the school year goes on.

Calendars:

There is a monthly calendar that will be sent home in the Red Folders at the beginning of each month.  These calendars will tell you what is going on in the school for the month, days off, etc....

Opening of School:

We will be opening the school on Wednesday, September 9th for our 2.9 through K scholars.  On Thursday, September 10th for our Gr. 1 - Gr. 5 Scholars (2.9 - K will be off this day).  On Friday, September 11th all of our scholars will report to school.

Extended Day AM/PM programs will not begin until Monday, September 14, 2020.  An extended AM/PM form will  also be going out the first day of school, so we can staff our program according to EEC/DESE Guidelines.

School yard rules for dropping off and picking up of your scholars:

  •  Masks must be worn at all times by everyone.

  •  Please social distance while in our school yard.

  •  Please have your scholar stand on the footprints that are spray painted on the cement.

May 18th Update

Dear Sacred Heart Families and Scholars,

This afternoon, Governor Baker announced that all Massachusetts schools will remain closed and online learning will continue for the rest of the school year.  I know our scholars are upset, I know parents are upset, I know our teachers are upset, our staff is upset,  but we must continue our greatness virtually.

Teachers will continue to use a variety of teaching platforms to engage the scholars such as Zoom, IXL, Math Shelf, Happy Numbers, and many others.  I will also be sending out a longer email on Sunday detailing out what is happening with our curriculum, grading, and overall planning for remote learning going forward.

I invite all families to our parent Zoom tomorrow night at 7:30.  If you are in need of the link please send me an email and I will make sure to get it out to you.

Once again, we want to remind you that your health and well-being remain our priority. We know this is not how we planned to end the school year, yet we are so proud to see how we have come together as a community to continue to work together, to learn and to grow.  We are all in this together!

If you have any questions or concerns, please email.  We want to support every single one of our families and the only way we know is if you reach out.

God Bless,
Mrs. Relihan

P.S. Please say out loud with me...
"I am somebody, I was somebody when I came.  I will be a better somebody when I leave.  I am powerful and I am strong.  I deserve the education that I get here.  I have things to do, people to impress, and places to go."
